Haute couture is as rejuvenating and life-giving to fashion as oxygen is to the earth. Couture stretches the imagination beyond it’s wildest dreams. It revitalizes a weary soul and ignites a fire in a cold heart. It’s the drama, the elegance, the delicate details. Couture is where the true passions and desires of an atelier are laid out for all to see. The audience is left in awe of this brilliance. No rules, just the love for exquisite design. The rare fabrics, the skillful technique, the beautiful minds. There will be critics, but it’s awfully hard to criticize such an incredible art that few have mastered.
Maison Martin Margiela takes artisanal design to a whole new level. The stories behind the materials’ origin make the designs even more desirable.
Marco Zanini perfectly portrayed the essence of Elsa Schiaparelli, full of color, drama, and humor. One of my favorite shows!
The female shape was celebrated through sheer fabrics, body-con dresses, corsets, and nipped in waists with billowing full skirts. Delicate lace, flower petals, intricate beading and beautifully draped gowns were all over the runway. Sapphire Blue and Oxblood sprinkled the runway, along with touches of Lavender, Chartreuse and Ruby Red.
Asymmetry and mixing of fabrics and textures continues to be a common thread through many collections.
