NYFW Day 1 Highlights:
BCBG Max Azria: I always look forward to this show. I found it to be a refreshing take on Fall, with strategically placed stripes of color. Blocking continues to trend: prints, solids, and contrasting fabrics. Even though everyone has had enough of this nasty weather, these fur coats, cloaks, and accessories made everyone okay with six more weeks of winter.
Notes: Fur, fur and more fur. Big, beautiful fur parkas, fur blocking, and fur accents. Refreshing pops of color in a sea of neutrals. Print and solid blocking, leather and fur blocking. Placed stripes. Awesome cloaks. Angled hemlines.
Creatures of the Wind: Lots of color in this collection. Beautiful layering that compliments the feminine shape. Dramatic cape-like jackets that drape beautifully. Jacquard patterns, organic prints and texture throughout.
Notes: Color. Organic prints resembling the lines of wood. Mules. Dramatic capes. Layering. Pattern and marled yarns.
Marissa Webb: I would describe this collection as ladylike with an edge. Black leather sleeves, plaid, and luxe sweatshirts are juxtaposed with skinny leather pants, feminine skirts, and fur scarves and collars. Layering and high/low hems create interest in each look.
Notes: Leather sleeves from the wrist to the elbow added another dimension to layering. Black and white plaid. Luxe sweatshirts. High/low hems. Fur accents. Angled hemlines. Red and champagne pink.
