When you see something that makes you stop and stare, and you get that gut feeling that this is something amazing, you can’t help but dig a little deeper. That’s what happened when I saw the Caballia, a stunning sandal from the talented designer, Abel Muñoz. It’s as if he had me in mind when designing his exquisite shoes. The all leather design is almost like buying two pairs of shoes; they are built to endure miles on rigorous concrete terrain. The classic silhouettes mixed with simple contemporary details make these easy to add to any wardrobe.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Mr. Muñoz about his accessory collection:

Education: ARS Arpel Institute of Shoe and Accessory Design.

Inspiration: His team in Italy; traveling; looking at the world around him – the shape of a window could inspire him; Vogue Italia

The woman he designs for: Independent woman who knows what she wants. She’s not afraid to try new things. She’s a trend setter, cutting edge, and needs to make a statement. She’s a strong woman and loves to take risks and explore new ideas.

Celebrities that have worn Abel Muñoz Accessories: Jeanne Beker, Shania Twain, and Kristen Wiig, to name a few.

What’s on the horizon: The square toe sandal

After studying shoe design in Milan, Mr. Muñoz started his collection in 2009. He currently resides in Toronto, and all his shoes are made in Italy with Italian materials.

Here’s a sneak peak at the Abel Muñoz Fall/Winter 2014 collection:
